State Archives of Brescia – Multimedia Exhibition Hall

The renovation project for the Exhibition Hall of the State Archives of Brescia was developed with the aim of expanding access to and enhancement of the archival heritage by integrating original documents, immersive storytelling, and interactive digital tools.

The layout has been designed to offer different levels of engagement: from the emotional experience of immersive video projections to the direct consultation of archival papers, up to the in-depth information available via multimedia touchscreens.

Furthermore, the new spatial organization has improved physical accessibility and the legibility of the exhibition itinerary, fostering a more inclusive experience tailored to diverse audiences.

Particular attention was dedicated to the integration of archival content and digital tools. For this reason, the materials acquired for the exhibitions—texts, high-definition images, videos, and documents—have been organized within theModus Operandiplatform, which serves as a centralized content management system.

The new version ofModus Explorercan dynamically retrieve data stored on the platform via API, making it available for real-time consultation on touchscreens, PCs, and other connected devices.

This approach has transformed the Exhibition Hall’s multimedia system into an open, updatable digital infrastructure. It is capable of supporting not only temporary exhibitions but also educational activities, conferences, online outreach, and new forms of access to the documentary heritage.
