Culturanuovawas founded in 2002 from the experience of architect Massimo Chimenti, who has been working in the field of documentation, management and enhancement of cultural heritage since the late 1980s.

From the early 1990s, Chimenti was among the first professionals in Italy to introduce advanced digital documentation methodologies into the field of restoration, developing survey and thematic mapping systems that gradually evolved into a broader methodology for managing cultural heritage information. From this experience cameModus Operandi, the software platform developed by Culturanuova to integrate technical and scientific documentation, data management and multimedia communication.

Over more than thirty years of activity, Culturanuova has gained extensive experience in the documentation and enhancement of artworks and monumental complexes of outstanding importance, collaborating with museums, heritage institutions, universities and restoration laboratories. Particularly significant is the company’s long-standing collaboration with the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence, which contributed to the development of an approach based on the continuous dialogue between research, conservation and public dissemination.

Projects developed over the years have involved works by artists such as Piero della Francesca, Giotto, Masaccio, Andrea Mantegna, Paolo Uccello, Leonardo da Vinci and Caravaggio.

Today, Culturanuova operates in the field of cultural design by combining research, digital technologies and contemporary communication. The company develops documentation and data management systems for cultural heritage, immersive installations, multimedia environments, audiovisual productions, interactive platforms and tools for museum communication and educational dissemination. Each project is based on the idea that the information collected during research, analysis and restoration processes can become not only a specialist resource, but also an accessible and engaging experience for the wider public.

Based in Arezzo, a Tuscan city deeply connected to Italy’s artistic and craft traditions, Culturanuova has developed projects throughout Italy and internationally, bringing its expertise from scientific restoration documentation to the creation of innovative multimedia experiences dedicated to the understanding and enhancement of cultural heritage.
